It’s hard to believe that I’m going into the 3rd year of my wellness journey, but these past years have been full of learning about myself and to be honest, it’s been a lot of trial and error. Also, this wellness journey I am taking is with collagen supplementation and I’ve been consistent with taking my liquid collagen supplements daily. At first, I was skeptical of taking the liquid collagen but it has become a part of my daily routine. I’m going to share my progress these past years, plus the healthy habits that have become a priority in my daily life. I hope this might inspire, educate or motivate you to make some changes in what you take and how you think about your wellness.

1st year of wellness journey: My lifestyle was not the most healthiest or active, but I was open to trying new things so I started taking the liquid collagen. I told myself if I was really going to invest in this then I have to create healthy lifestyle changes that work for me alongside taking the liquid collagen. It couldn’t just be me taking the collagen supplement and expecting a miracle. Easier said than done right? Yes, creating healthy habits was tough for me the first month so I ended up discouraged but since I was keeping up with taking the collagen I continued to work on my healthy habits. I realized that I was rushing to get results quickly and once I realized that I decided to only focus on ONE healthy habit to improve on for the year. So, this first year I focused on my relationship with food, which included unlearning old habits and how I think about food. The main thing I improved on was accepting that my cultural foods are healthy and I don’t only have to just eat plain chicken and veggies. Once I realized that making my own food at home became easier and more fun to be honest because I didn’t have to overthink whether or not to add something to my recipe because it would be considered “unhealthy.” Also, I still had fast food cravings (who doesn’t right?) which I satisfied as long as I didn’t feel guilty about eating it and actually enjoyed eating the food. While working on my relationship with food and taking my liquid collagen daily, I managed to lose 23 pounds for this first year.

2nd year of wellness journey: Since I felt motivated from my progress the previous year, I decided again to focus on ONE healthy habit to improve on. So, in the second year, I decided to improve on my gut health because a happy gut = happy life. This year was more difficult because one of the things that I practiced was to eat without distractions and one thing about me is that I love to binge-watch shows/movies and I would eat my meals while watching. It was a hard habit to undo, but it was worth it because it has helped me actually be present and enjoy the food I am putting in my mouth. For this year, I also implemented more gut health supplements but only if I think they would fit easily into my lifestyle. So, I added Axis Trebiotic and Axis Phytogolds. The Axis Trebiotic helped my gut be balanced and I would take the scoopful with my liquid collagen. The Axis Phytogolds I would take as an evening drink and it helped me sleep and feel well-rested the next morning. By improving my gut health with practices, implementing new gut health supplements, and still taking my liquid collagen daily, I managed to lose an additional 5 pounds. It wasn’t a drastic number and I am okay with that because my body composition this year changed a lot! I have a leaner body, my clothes started to fit really loose on me and I felt really good health-wise.

I am now in the 3rd year of my wellness journey and I am focusing on movement. The first year I tried to do more exercise but I was in a bad mindset, but now I am ready to increase my movement. And if you are wondering, yes I still was able to lose weight and improve my well-being without doing consistent exercise. To increase my movement this year, I am starting by simply going out on a walk with my dog 2–3 times a week. Of course, I am still taking my liquid collagen and other favorite supplements this year so I will keep updated throughout the year of my progress.
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned is that losing weight and improving your wellness doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a life-long journey and change in lifestyle, which I am committed to.

Are you ready to commit? If you are interested in losing weight, aging gracefully, and staying healthy, try to commit to ONE thing each year and try taking high-quality supplements like liquid collagen which can add a lot of nutrients to the body making your skin and body healthier.
